Paniyar tribes celebrate Deepavali for the first time with Sevalaya

Sevalaya Samaritan celebrated Deepavali on 2nd November 2021 with the Paniyar tribes at their village Thenvayal in Gudalur.

K Ravi Kumar, Entrepreneur, Gudalur, was the Chief Guest for the event and distributed sweets, crackers, dresses and blankets to 20 Paniyar tribal families at the village.  Around 125 tribes got new dresses for this Deepavali. Nurses who work in Sevalaya Samaritan Hospital donated new dresses for 25 tribal children.

Traditioanl Kerala festival lunch was arranged for all the people.

The Chief said that it was a new experience to celebrate Deepavali with the tribes. He congratulated Sevalaya for the novel initiative.

Earlier Sumathi Selvakumar, Tailoring instructor, Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College, Gudalur, welcomed the gathering. S R Priyadharshini,  Centre Head, Gudalur, Sevalaya proposed a vote of thanks.

The function came to a close with the singing of the National anthem
