Distribution Of Oxygen Concentrators to Nilgiris Government Hospital

10 Oxygen concentrators were handed over to Government General Hospital in Udhagamandalam, Nilgiris District, by Chellaram Foundation and Sevalaya on 24th May 2021. Chellaram Foundation sponsored the Oxygen Concentrators and Sevalaya coordinated the procurement, transportation and distribution.

India is reeling under the effect of the second wave of COVID 19. Tamil Nadu tops the list in terms of the number of people getting infected per day. It is a heart-wrenching sight to see the long line of patients outside the hospitals, in ambulances, struggling for breath, and waiting for beds. There is a scarcity of beds, oxygen, medicines, medical equipment, and the situation is grim.

Sevalaya is undertaking COVID 19 relief initiatives with support from philanthropic individuals/ institutions/ corporate.

The Oxygen concentrators were handed over by Edward Vincent, Branch Manager, Chellarams Pvt Ltd, Udhagamandalam to J Innocent Divya, IAS, Collector, Nilgiris District. Dr Palanisamy, Joint Director of Health, Nilgiris District, and S R Priyadharshini, Centre in Charge, Sevalaya Samaritan Gramodharan Samithy, Gudalur were present on the occasion.
